Presentation: Scams and Mules, Two Sides of the Same Crime

Richard Booth, Vice President of Sales at BioCatch
Fraud losses associated with scams have grown significantly in recent years with many of the proceeds being funnelled into domestic and international mule accounts. Nobody needs reminding of the pain, but all hope isn’t lost as some countries are starting to turn the tide. Never have digital fraud and AML been so closely interlinked in a financial crime that has two sides to its coin.

In this session, we will explore both sides of the crime and hear about how banks around the world are using new processes and controls to mitigate the loss to the victim as well as identifying the mule accounts before they receive payments. As governments and regulators explore new liability models that push the responsibility more towards the banks, having a clear strategy on preventative controls will be critical to avoid further financial and reputational risks.
15:40 – 16:10

Afternoon Tea Break

A case study of a major European e-commerce brand will highlight the positive impact of marketing technology implementation on solving the customer identity, boosting revenue, improving business performance, and reducing Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC).
